Some History
The building Acacia is housed in is the old Palace Livery. This building dates from 1909, and replaces the original wood Palace Livery that burned in the great fire of October 1908.
Carriages and wagons were parked on the first floor and the second floor was where the horses and mules were stabled. The draft animals were lifted to the second floor by means of a hand operated elevator. Later, an electric motor was installed on the elevator, and the motor and elevator are still in use today.
